Tulsa Guitar Company was formerly known as "Tulsa Band Instruments" when it was founded in 1985 by original owner Paul Felzke. Tulsa Band was a premier destination for band & orchestra repair and rental for over 30 years. In 2018, Paul sold the company to Trey Johnson who was an employee of several years, and the shop was rebranded to "Tulsa Band & Guitars". In 2020, the challenges of the pandemic led to a transformation of the core business into a more guitar focused shop, and with that a new name in 2023 as "Tulsa Guitar Company". With the name change, Trey moved the shop into midtown where it was in a smaller location on 15th & Lewis from, and then in 2026 moved to its current home on Studio Row by the historic Church Studio. This location is also home to Hondo Guitars™ which is a legacy guitar brand now owned and produced by Tulsa Guitar Company.
